California High School Minimum Graduation Requirements

SUGGESTED HIGH SCHOOL MINIMUM GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

Below is an adequate guide for high seniors who plan to enter the job market or attend a community college immediately after graduation. If your student desires to attend a California State University or University of California (or out of state University) Administrator recommends that you check the university's website for entry requirements. Click here to see is a pre-COVID guide I put up years ago, I highly recommend both parent and student check the current information on your preferred college's website before planning your high school course of study for the four years of high school.

MINIMUM GRAD REQUIREMENTS - these are the bare minimum, if planning on attending a higher university, please check your preferred State University or University of California for entry requirements

 

Four years

 

Three years including: U.S. History, Modern World, History and American Government/Economics

Three years including: biological and physical science

 

 

Three years including: Algebra I, Geometry and 3rd year math

 

One year either foreign language, visual or performing arts, or career technical education

Two years

Driver’s Education: most parents sign up for driving school that will include book instruction and behind the wheel hours. Driver’s Education = 1 semester of high school credit.
